FINANCIAL AID PROVIDED

Lady Boosters provide a depth and breadth of financial aid to students at San Pedro High School that is unparalleled. 

Our giving to student activities, senior activities, programs, and athletics for the 2008-2009 school year has begun!

  • Provided $1,425 to the Girls' JV, Frosh-Soph and Varsity Volleyball teams for tournaments
  • Purchased a $100 full page ad in the Girls' Volleyball printed program for 2008-2009
  • Provided $2,700 for new Boys' Varsity Basketball uniforms 

We are proud to list our 2007-2008 contributions which benefit the welfare of students:

  • Provided $650 to the Girls' JV and Varsity Basketball teams for tournament over Winter Break
  • Purchased an ad in the Pirate Boosters printed Football program during Fall 2007 ($100)
  • Provided $1,200 to the SPHS Choir and Drama groups to attend a musical
  • Provided $1,175 for tournament fees to the Girls' JV and Varsity Volleyball teams
  • Advertised in the Girls' JV and Varsity Volleyball printed program ($100)
  • Provided $1,000 towards the purchase of new uniforms for the Frosh-Soph Boys' Basketball teams
  • Adopted two SPHS families at Thanksgiving 2007 and provided gift cards for groceries
  • Adopted four SPHS families at Christmas 2007 and provided Target Gift Cards and grocery gift cards
  • Provided $300 to the SPHS Testing Committee to purchase student incentives for CAHSEE and CST testing in Spring 2008
  • Purchased a full-page ad in the Boys' Basketball printed program for 2008 ($250)
  • Donated $1,500 towards the purchase of portable outfield fencing (costing $6925), primarily for Girls' Softball at Angel's Gate, but will also be used on the SPHS campus for crowd control
  • Provided $300 for Boys' Varsity Volleyball Tournament in March 2008
  • Purchased a full page Memorial Page in honor of La'Terian Tasby in the 2008 SPHS Yearbook ($300)
  • Purchased a full page advertisement for SPHS Lady Boosters in the 2008 SPHS Yearbook ($300)
  • Funded purchase of supplies for the Physics Club/Rocket Team to qualify for 2008 National Competition ($800)
  • Started a 'beta' program to recognize students in 'You've been caught doing something good' - a program administered by the SPHS Principal
  • Provided two Prom tickets for winners of the Senior Egg Hunt
  • Provided $980 towards fees required at Sharp California State Competition at Knott's Berry Farm for SPHS Drill, and Short and Tall Flags teams
  • Provided $350 towards the purchase of gold cords to be awarded to 2008 Seniors who qualify as Academic All-Stars
  • Donated two Disneyland GRAD NITE tickets for oerfect or near-perfect attendance of 2008 Seniors
  • Provided $206 to purchase Spanish-language country flags for classroom and assemblies use for Hispanity Celebration

  • Will present $12,000 in scholarships to 2008 Seniors at the Honors Convocation

  • Will present $1,000 to 10 departmental awardee 2008 Seniors at the Honors Convocation
  • Donated $750 to the L.A City Champion SPHS Varsity Girls' Softball team towards purchase of rings marking their winning season!

SPHS Lady Boosters provided over $33,000 in scholarship and departmental awards, funding for books, electronic classroom equipment, athletic tournament fees and senior class activities during the fiscal 2006-2007 year.

In 2006-2007, these contributions benefited the welfare of students:

  • Provided funds towards defraying the cost of gold cords for Seniors who qualify as Academic All-Stars
  • Provided a donation to the 2007 Girls' Softball City Championship Team to defray the cost of rings
  • Provided funds for an ad in the Spring 2007 Dance Program
  • Provided 50% funding for purchase of a new PC and DVD production equipment for the SPHS Football program
  • Provided full funding for purchase of a new LCD projector & laptop PC for Social Studies Dept. use in classrooms
  • Provided funding for student testing incentives during California State Testing
  • Provided funding for buckets of golf balls used by SPHS Golf Team at practices
  • Provided funds for purchase of Woodshop classroom supplies for students' projects
  • Provided funds to purchase a new LCD projector for use in a Math classroom
  • Provided funds for SPHS's Boys' Varsity Baseball team
  • Provided two free Disneyland "Grad Nite" tickets and a cash donation for Senior Egg Hunt
  • Donated funds for Senior Extravaganza event
  • Provided funding for 46 text books used by AVID program students & teachers
  • Donated funds for the SPHS Short Flags team to participate in a national tournament
  • Donated tournament fees to the SPHS Boys' Varsity Volleyball team
  • Hosted a table of 10 SPHS freshmen students at the 10th Annual San Pedro Peninsula Chamber of Commerce 'Teens at the Table' Conference & donated two Lady Boosters commuter mugs as door prizes.
  • Approved the 'adoption' of four SPHS students and their families with donation of a food gift card to be used for Thanksgiving.
  • Approved the 'adoption' of four SPHS students and their families with donations of food gift cards and Target gift cards for the Christmas holidays.
  • The Nurse's Office's request for funds was approved.
  • A new video camera purchase was approved for the SPHS Cheerleaders.
  • SPHS Drill Team's request for funds to purchase fabric for new backdrops was partially funded.
  • SPHS's Girls JV & Varsity Basketball Team's request for tournament funds was approved
  • The Digital Photography classroom received a new LCD projector and 10 classroom copies of a text supporting PhotoShop, a computer program used to produce photos.
  • The SPHS Pirate Band received partial funding for purchase of new uniform capes.
  • Made a donation to SPHS's CBI (Community Based Instruction) Program's request to rent the YMCA's pool for adaptive Physical Education instruction.
  • Provided funding for an English teacher's request for a classroom set of 45 Webster's Collegiate Dictionaries.
  • Donated funds to SPHS's "Docs Rocs" for portable external hard drives and miscellaneous computer equipment needed for the program.
  • Advertised in the SPHS Pirate Booster Club printed football program.
  • Made a donation to the 2006 Los Angeles City-Champion SPHS Varsity Softball Team to help defray the cost of championship rings for each participant
  • Donated funds to purchase a replacement print cartridge for the Library's copier
  • Awarded over $10,000 in scholarships and departmental awards to graduating seniors in June 2006
